1st November 2018

Generali UK launches new business travel insurance and assistance solution, helping employers meet their duty of care responsibilities.

Generali UK has launched a new business travel insurance & assistance product, Global Travel Protection, which provides UK employers with a complete support network for their travelling employees.

Drawing on Generali Group’s global network and insurance capabilities, combined with the expertise of its wholly owned travel and medical assistance company Europ Assistance, Generali UK can now bring to its local market tailor-made business travel solutions.

This comprehensive product offers a range of multilingual global assistance services on a 24/7 basis, as well as all the key cover that employers and employees expect when travelling, such as:

  • Accidental Death and Permanent Disability caused by an accident.
  • Emergency medical expenses and transportation.
  • Travel, medical and security assistance.
  • Loss of luggage and personal effects.
  • Lost or stolen ID cards or travel documents.
  • Personal liability during a business trip.

Karoliina Gutaj, Head of Strategy & Marketing, Global Business Travel Insurance, Generali Employee Benefits Network, said: “Global Travel Protection will not only help employers towards meeting their duty of care to employees with regards to emergencies and major world events, but also with respect to helping improve employee wellbeing whilst travelling. This, in turn, brings important recruitment and retention benefits to UK corporations."

“The fact that everything is provided under one roof - insurance plus travel and medical assistance - also brings cost efficiencies and flexibility to businesses.”

Simon Thomas, Director – UK Employee Benefits, Generali, added: “Importantly, the launch of Global Travel Protection also helps open up life / non life cross-selling opportunities for UK brokers. Our research1 shows that business travel insurance represents the top benefit managed centrally from the head offices of mid-sized UK organisations: over and above flexible benefits, employee benefits for expatriates and employee assistance programmes."

“Two thirds of companies currently offer business travel insurance1. Considering its role in duty of care and travel risk mitigation, there’s clearly scope for growth.”
